Suzanne Schireson – BOOOOOOOM! – CREATE * INSPIRE * COMMUNITY * ART * DESIGN * MUSIC * FILM * PHOTO * PROJECTS

Rhode Island-based artist Suzanne Schireson imagines solitary studio spaces for caretaking women in her most recent series of paintings. As a mother herself, solitude has been hard to come by these days for Schireson. In response, she invents spaces for nocturnal women, working against distraction in the marginal hours of the day. Exploring new combinations of colors and textures, Schireson’s subjects are illuminated in the glow of twilight. “I intend these spaces to be more psychological than physical,” she explains. “They are not about escape; they are about a deep desire to reflect and refuel.”
